The Mikhail Barishnykov Hell’s Kitchen Dancers

The Hell’s Kitchen Dancers are a young dance ensemble that hail from the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Mikhail Baryshnikov founded his Baryshnikov Arts center in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, with the intention of creating a place to serve talented young perfomers.

All the dancers in the Hell’s Kitchen troupe have recieved fellowships from the Baryshnikov arts center. Mostly consisting of Juilliard-trained dancers, the group has toured both the U.S. and Spain. Baryshnikov, himself a legendary ballet dancer, sometimes performs with the group as well. The dancers’ virtuosic performances garnered a rave review from the New York Times, who said “A first performance by Hell’s Kitchen Dance… suggests that [Baryshnikov’s] vision may have a great deal of staying power.

Hell’s Kitchen Dance have closed out their 2007 tour, and have yet to announce any performances for 2008. But will probably soon be performing at the Barishnykov Arts Center.
